The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is organizing the World Conference on Agricultural Biotechnology, under the theme:"Biotechnologies for a sustainable future: the engine of the transformation of agri-food systems"From June 16 to 18, 2025, in Rome, Italy.
In the context of this conference, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has launched a call for scientific poster abstracts highlighting the progress, opportunities, and risks associated with biotechnology. Submissions, which must be made online before April 30, 2025, will be reviewed for presentation as electronic posters during the conference, with no funding for participation.
As part of its 80th anniversary celebrations, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) seeks to organize a biotechnology innovation challenge on the sidelines of this conference, aimed at highlighting the work of young scientists and innovators under the age of 35. This competition aims to identify biotechnological advancements in various fields of food and agriculture that provide solutions to improve production and nutrition, reduce environmental impact, and enhance the resilience of food and agriculture systems, especially for smallholder farmers in developing countries. The three selected candidates will present their innovations during the conference, with financial support from the FAO to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
The deadline for submitting to the call: May 2, 2025, and the deadline for registering for the conference: May 5, 2025.

As part of the UNESCO Call to Action “Closing the Gender Gap in Science”, the UNESCO Gender Equality in Science team is delighted to invite you to the 2nd series of the UNESCO Actions Groups for Women in Science
These open-ended working groups provide a valuable space to connect, exchange, and co-create with a diverse network of stakeholders. Together, we will explore upcoming UNESCO initiatives under this Call to Action, share good practices and innovative ideas, and identify opportunities for collaboration to advance gender equality in science.
The next series of working group meetings will take place online (via Zoom) in May 2025, and will be held in English. Below, you will find the schedule and registration links, with each Action Group focused on one of the three key pillars of the Call to Action :

Action Group for Pillar 1 - Enhancing the visibility of female role models to dismantle gender stereotypes and biases in science: Wednesday, 14 May 2025, 3pm – 4.30pm (Paris time)
